New Smokiam Park Basketball Court is Funded!

(UPDATE) March 5th, 2021

The Soap Lake Parks and Recreation Committee members are pleased to announce that the ‘match’ dollar goal of $25,000 for the proposed full size basketball court at Smokiam Park has been met! This was possible through donations by the City and donations from those near and those at a distance from Soap Lake. We’re all eager to see construction of this first phase of park renovation. Before construction starts we’ll be working with the stipulations in the Recreation Conservation Office (RCO) Agreement that pertain to compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. In 2021 we will be working on requirements such as permitting, environmental impacts, and various evaluations. The tentative completion date of the court is September of 2022.

The community aim is on target, and the ball is almost to the hoop. Need a few more donations to get us there. Let’s make it nothing but net!
