Please share with your neighbors that the July 3rd, Suds and Sun event in Soap Lake has had to be canceled due to high temperatures and associated health risks. While missing the opportunity to have fun outdoors together, safely celebrate by reaching out to and supporting your favorite Soap Lake businesses in their air conditioned places. Please read the Chamber of Commerce’s letter below. Thank you for all of their planning efforts and thoughtfulness for the publics safety!
Due to the excessive heat warning issued by the National Weather Service, the Soap Lake Chamber of Commerce has made the decision to cancel the planned activities during our annual Suds and Sun event. This includes the parade, car show, children’s events in the park, karaoke, and the live music.
We do not make this decision lightly, but the health risks are significant and the majority of both our volunteers and participants have already withdrawn due to the dangerous conditions. We strongly agree the triple digit temperature on asphalt during midday will pose a threat to participants, volunteers, observers, and pets.
Thank you for your understanding and support, all donations and registration fees will be returned. Stay safe, stay inside and stay hydrated.
