The City has finally made it past the 15% annual increases for Sewer and Water utility rates, and rates will only be increased by 3% for the 2021 year. These increases in rates are paying for $8.5M in water and sewer line replacements completed this year with additional work to be completed in 2021, and keeps the City current with continued cost of service increases from inflation. These small increases will protect the community from further large increases like the ones implemented these last 3 years. The 2017 “Sewer and Water Rate Study” calculated utility rates required for necessary maintenance and capital improvement expenditures.
The City understands the financial difficulty of rate increases on our community, especially during this pandemic, but it is a necessary step to continue to provide City utility services now and into the future.
