UPDATE: November 25th
Ad Valorem is a Latin phrase meaning “in proportion to the value of something”. In proportion to the estimated value of the goods taxed; “the goods were taxed ad valorem”.
This is not a property tax increase. It allows the city to receive a portion of tax collected at the county level. Without passing, the city would lose out on these funds, and they would be absorbed by the county.
