2022 Sewer and Water Rate Increase Reminder

Per the City’s Utility Rate Study, the water and sewer rates will increase by 3.5% beginning in 2022. These increases in rates are paying for $8.5M in water and sewer line replacements completed recently with additional work to be completed in 2022, and keeps the City current with continued cost of service increases from inflation. These small increases will protect the community from further large increases like the ones implemented between 2017 and 2019. The 2017 “Sewer and Water Rate Study” calculated utility rates required for necessary maintenance and capital improvement expenditures. Having healthy sewer and water main lines with continued maintenance is necessary before the City continues with the much desired street improvements that cover those utilities.

The City understands the financial difficulty of rate increases on our community, especially during this pandemic, but it is a necessary step to continue to provide City utility services now and into the future.
